Lets face it, for being one of the busiest airports in the world, LAX falls short in the cuisine category. If you know the LAX area, you know there are not many dining options without driving down to El Segundo. I work around the airport and I get asked all the time, “Is there any good place to eat here?” I often find myself sending people miles away to get a descent bite. To make things easier for all of you LAX travelers, I have compiled a list of the top 5 places I catch a bite; all within 4 miles of the airport.

1) The Macaroni Grill
Now I know what most of you guys must be thinking, too fancy and too expensive. Believe it or not, they have lunch specials ranging from 12-15 bucks. And with curbside carryout and take out dining, this restaurant offers quality meals at affordable prices.

My Suggestion- Chicken Parmesan lunch
2321 Rosecrans Ave
El Segundo
(310) 643-0812

2) Petite Café
This is my “go to” place. If you are in LAX and looking for an authentic gyro, look no further. Just ask Shaquille O’Neil or half of the 2006-2010 Los Angles Lakers roster. This diamond in the rough has athletes and celebrities visiting religiously. Just 2 miles from LAX, Petit Cafe is a must try if you enjoy Greek or Middle Eastern cuisine.

My suggestion- Classic Gyro Wrap, Mojo Potatoes (stir fried with fresh vegies.)
630 N. Sepulveda Blvd #3A
El Segundo, CA 90245
Tel: (310) 322 9139

3) Z Pizza
A list of great places to eat would not be complete without a pizza place. Z pizza is my favorite around the airport. They offer all organic gourmet pizza. It definitely beats your regular delivery pie.

My suggestion- All
829 N. Douglas St.
El Segundo, CA 90245

4) In & Out
As generic as it must sound, In & Out is a must have. A popular first stop for LAX travellers, IN & Out on Sepulveda Blvd. is busy all day making your burger as fresh as possible.. It is just 1 mile outside of LAX airport making it an ideal grab and go meal for those with short layover times.

My Suggestion- 1-2 or 3

5) The Encounter Restaurant
In all honesty, I don’t eat here much. To me its just another American-like diner. However, it is a nice place to sit and eat, watch the airplanes take of and land, and grab a diner like meal for a decent price. It has an alien theme and seems cool, but they still only serve human food. If you are tight on time and want to eat in the airport, check out The Encounter at LAX.

209 World Way, Los Angeles, CA 90045
Phone:(310) 215-5151

I hope this list helps all you hungry travelers frustratingly searching for lax food and not yielding many results. Good luck, safe travels, and eat good!
